Community Guidelines
World of Citrus is built on the knowledge and passion of its community. To maintain a high-quality, evidence-based resource, we ask all members to follow these guidelines when contributing content and interacting with others.
Core Values
Evidence-Based
We prioritize verifiable data. Claims should be supported by photos, provenance records, or reputable sources whenever possible.
Collaborative
We work together to build a complete catalog. Constructive feedback and shared knowledge help improve the quality of information for everyone.
Respectful
We foster a welcoming environment. Disagreements about identification or traits should remain professional and focused on the evidence.
Contribution Standards
- Check for Duplicates: Before adding a new variety, search for existing entries and check known aliases to avoid creating duplicate records.
- Provide Evidence: When adding a variety, include as much detail as possible—origin, parentage, and history. Photos of the tree, leaves, and fruit (exterior and cross-section) are highly encouraged.
- Respect Copyright: Only upload photos and content that you own or have explicit permission to share. Do not copy text or images directly from other websites without authorization.
- Accuracy Matters: If you are unsure about a detail, it is better to leave it blank or note the uncertainty in the description rather than guessing.
Prohibited Content
The following types of content are not allowed and may result in content removal or account suspension:
- Spam, promotional material (exception for YouTube channels with relevant citrus content), or irrelevant links.
- Harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks against other members.
- Private personal information (doxing) of any individual.
- False or misleading information posted with malicious intent.
