Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new variety?
Go to Varieties and click “Add Variety”. You’ll need to be logged in and have reached level 3. Include evidence-based details when you can: origin/history, parentage (if known), and photos of the tree, leaf, fruit exterior, and cross-section.
What do Community and Official mean?
Community entries are member-submitted and unverified. Official entries meet the evidence and editorial requirements for identity, provenance, and documentation, or are long-standing recognized cultivars.
What if the variety already exists under another name?
Check aliases and similar names on the varieties page. We inform submitters if the variety they’re adding appears to be a duplicate so they can take appropriate action. You can leave a comment on the variety page if you think two entries should be merged.
How do I report incorrect information or misuse?
Use the Report action on the variety, comment, media, or observation. For accuracy issues, it helps to leave a short description of the issue.
What media can I upload?
Upload your own photos and observations whenever possible. Avoid copyrighted content you don’t have permission to share, and don’t post personal data. If you’re linking to external sources, try to use reputable references.
I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
On the Sign In page, click “Forgot Password?” and follow the instructions sent to your email.
