LB8-9 was selected in 1985 from Clementine × Minneola hybrids made during the 1970s at Lake Alfred. Gmitter, Castle and Grosser are the named patent inventors.
Created C4-15-19 through an interploid cross of diploid ‘Sugar Belle’ with the allotetraploid ‘Nova’ + ‘Succari’ somatic hybrid and recovered the triploid seedling through embryo rescue.
UF/IFAS released C4-15-19 as a mandarin selection in 2013. Its April 2013 program insert lists January 22; the exact release day is left unconfirmed.
