Received the imported King material at Riverside and raised the seedling lineage from which the U.S. King clone arose.
According to Webber (1943), as reproduced in the 1967 passage on UCR’s King Tangor CRC 303 page, fruit of that name reached H. S. Magee in Riverside in 1880 through U.S. Minister to Japan John A. Bingham, who arranged shipment from Saigon, Cochin-China (South Vietnam). The account says Magee raised seedlings from the fruit; this is the historical origin narrative, not an accession match to CRC 303 or CRC 3845.
