Francesco Russo bred Amoa 8 from Moro blood orange × Avana mandarin around 1990 at the Acireale citrus research institute in Sicily, identified as CREA-OFA in UCR’s 2020 account. UCR received seed in 2002 and made its own seedling selections in 2005.
