C-190 Citrumelo is a Hall grapefruit × Rubidoux trifoliate hybrid (CRC 3889; PI 539829; VI 504). UCR records that the accession was received as seed from its Rootstock Breeding Program in 1983 and that Don Cole obtained budwood in September 1983 from an inoculated rootstock sprout in the W. P. Bitters tristeza plot. A UCR note dated December 1988 records a morphology and isozyme comparison distinguishing C-190 from CRC 3821; the note date does not establish when the checks occurred.[1]
Citrus ID describes a compact or dense, nonweeping crown and fruit broader than long, with slightly rough, leathery rind, no navel, and yellow flesh. The profile gives a range of rind colors; UCR lists the season of ripeness at Riverside as unknown.[2][1]
