Cleopatra Mandarin

Cleopatra is the Indian chota or billi kichili mandarin, considered native to India. It is used as a rootstock in the United States and elsewhere.^{⁠[1]⁠[11]}

The thornless tree has a round, symmetrical crown and small dark-green leaves. Its small orange-red fruit is oblate with a depressed apex and a thin, somewhat rough rind; the flesh is soft and juicy. The small seeds are polyembryonic and have green cotyledons.^⁠[1]

The UCR profile reports that Cleopatra was introduced from Jamaica into Florida before 1888 and describes it as increasingly important as a rootstock. NSW DPI places the introduction in the mid-nineteenth century.^{⁠[1]⁠[11]}
