Seed Germinated
Hodgson (1967) identifies Duncan as the oldest grapefruit clone grown in Florida and reports that, as far as could be determined, its parent seedling was planted near Safety Harbor around 1830. Hodgson attributes the seed to a tree from the planting of Odette Philippe, who introduced grapefruit from the West Indies. The passage does not identify an exact seed parent, pollen parent, planter of the Duncan seedling, or germination date.
