Frua Mandarin

The UCR Citrus Variety Collection notes that CRC 3022 has been repropagated several times, lacks vigor, and can produce very puffy, unattractive fruit.^⁠[1]

Hodgson’s 1967 profile describes Frua fruit as medium-sized, slightly necked and somewhat pebbled, reddish-orange, few-seeded, and mild in flavor; it notes that the rind puffs rather badly. It places maturity in the early midseason, earlier than Dancy, and describes a tree lacking vigor.^⁠[2]

The UCR collection account and Hodgson (1967) describe Frua as a King–Dancy hybrid from a cross made by H. B. Frost. Hodgson reports selection in 1925 and release in 1950. These accounts identify the parents but do not specify seed- and pollen-parent direction.^⁠[1]⁠[2]
