Gallego Lemon

Gallego is a Portuguese lemon seedling group. Hodgson’s 1967 account describes Lisbon as believed to have been selected from this group, without identifying a particular parent tree.^⁠[2]

Cottin’s 2002 synonym directory lists Galligan and Galligan Lisbon as synonyms of Gallego. The listing does not identify particular accessions, so the equivalence of their plant material remains uncertain.^⁠[1]

UCR records the origin of its Galligan Lisbon accession, CRC 3835, as unknown. Hodgson also raised the possibility that the historical Galligan material was Villafranca. These accounts leave Galligan’s identity uncertain rather than establishing it as the Portuguese Gallego group.^⁠[3]⁠[2]
