World of CitrusRangpur Lime x Troyer Citrange
In 1953, J. R. Furr made pollinations between Rangpur lime and Troyer citrange in the USDA citrus breeding program at Indio, California. The paper reports that selection C54-64-8 was later brought to the USDA foundation farm near Leesburg and supplied seed for virtually all Florida experimental work it describes; it does not establish that selection as the same accession as UCR CRC 3997.
Made the 1953 Rangpur lime × Troyer citrange cross.

Florida field trials of Rangpur × Troyer began in 1968 under Richard L. Phillips at the Citrus Research and Education Center. Phillips obtained seed from J. R. Furr. The paper identifies selection C54-64-8, brought by USDA to its foundation farm near Leesburg, as the seed source for virtually all Florida experimental work it describes; it does not establish that selection as the same accession as UCR CRC 3997.
Established the first Florida field trials of Rangpur × Troyer in 1968 using seed obtained from J. R. Furr.

Rangpur lime × Troyer citrange was received by the Riverside citrus collection in 1988 as budwood from the Florida Budwood Registration Program at Winter Haven. The accession became CRC 3997 / PI 539831 / VI 483.
