Cross Made
UCR’s historical account credits W. T. Swingle with creating the Rusk hybrid in 1897. Webber and Swingle’s account describes one of three seedlings from a single hybrid fruit produced that year in Col. G. H. Norton’s grove at Eustis, Florida; they identify common orange as the female parent and trifoliate orange as the pollen parent.
