Introduced
San Jacinto tangelo was introduced in 1931 after first fruiting at Indio, California. It was named for nearby San Jacinto Mountain.
USDA Circular 181 documents the reported first fruiting at Indio and proposed San Jacinto tangelo name; this is a documentation credit, not evidence of a formal agency release.
