Hodgson describes Sanguigno Doppio (Doppio Sanguigno) as an old Italian blood orange of undocumented exact origin, midseason and seedy, with medium-small to medium subglobose-to-spherical fruit, a rough red-splashed rind and poorly pigmented flesh. A 2012 molecular study found a complete Tcs1 insertion at the Ruby locus in its tested Doppio Sanguigno accession.[3][4]
