California Honey Mandarin

UCR identifies California Honey (CRC 3177) as a King × Willowleaf hybrid developed by H. B. Frost and as a sister selection of Encore, Kinnow, and Wilking. Its historical account says Honey was described in 1943 but never officially released. This California cultivar is distinct from the Florida use of “Honey” for Murcott, as a Houzz reply notes.^⁠[1]⁠[2]

UCR describes California Honey fruit as small and oblate, with a faintly pebbled, light yellowish-orange rind and numerous seeds. The trees are described as vigorous and strongly alternate bearing. UCR lists Riverside ripening from November through January; timing varies with growing conditions.^⁠[1]
