Historical accounts give different chronologies for Kunenbo’s introduction to the Ryukyu Islands. Wu et al. (2021) discuss an introduction from mainland Asia in the eighth to twelfth centuries, while the UC ANR account describes a maritime introduction from Indochina to Okinawa about 400–500 years ago. Neither account establishes an exact date or proves that the historical name refers to UCR accession CRC 3346.
