Miho Wase Satsuma

Miho-Wase was one of three sister maternal nucellar seedlings recovered from a 1940 controlled-pollination experiment using Miyagawa-Wase and trifoliate orange. The seedlings were selected as promising in 1949; Okitsu No. 1 was registered as Miho-Wase in 1963. As a nucellar selection, this history does not establish trifoliate orange as a genetic parent.^⁠[3]

JIRCAS trials found Miho-Wase and Okitsu-Wase more vigorous than Miyagawa-Wase, with earlier, more uniform colouring in the nucellar lines. In its five-year fruit analyses, Miho-Wase had the lowest citric-acid content among the compared lines; these are trial-specific findings.^⁠[3]

Fruit somewhat more oblate than Miyagawa, but higher in sugar, usually lower in acid; and earlier in maturity.^⁠[1]
