Moragne Tangerine
Robert Willard Hodgson · University of California, Division of Agricultural Sciences, Berkeley · 1967
Hodgson's Dancy history, citing Ziegler and Wolfe (1961), reports that the original tree was a seedling in G. L. Dancy's grove, that the parent tree was known as the Moragne tangierine, and that it was said to have been introduced from Tangiers and planted at Palatka by Major Atway. It says the property was acquired by N. H. Moragne in 1843. This is a retrospective report; it does not name who assigned the Moragne name or establish the cultivar's original geographic origin.
