Historical accounts report this cross at different levels of specificity. Webber’s 1907 circular for hybrid No. 779 reports trifoliate orange as seed parent and common sweet orange pollen [1]; UCR CRC 275 lists Poncirus trifoliata × Citrus sinensis without direction [2]. Cooper, Reece, and Furr’s 1962 retrospective says 11 citranges including Savage grew from a P. trifoliata seed fruit crossed with pollen from a Ruby sweet-orange flower, attributing that account to Swingle (1913) [8]. The 1962 official PDF was inaccessible; the passage was checked in a complete transcription, and the original 1913 account was not independently inspected. The source’s Ruby sweet orange is linked to the catalog’s Ruby Blood Orange record. This is a qualified historical reported cross, not molecular confirmation or proof that all material called Savage is one accession.

Revision: User explicitly authorized the Savage parentage update after the 1962 retrospective was reviewed. Link the reported Poncirus seed parent and Ruby sweet-orange pollen parent to the exact existing catalog varieties while preserving the parentage tree and roles.
