UFR-17 is a University of Florida citrus rootstock also identified as Green #2. Its patent describes an allotetraploid zygotic hybrid produced by a sexual cross between two somatic-fusion parents: Nova mandarin hybrid + Hirado Buntan pummelo seedling, and sour orange + Carrizo citrange.[3]
The UF/IFAS fifth-edition rootstock guide lists first commercial availability in 2015, small-to-intermediate tree size, 80–90% seedling uniformity and a good freeze-tolerance rating. The freeze rating is a guide assessment rather than a measured minimum-temperature limit.[2]
