Selection of Poncirus Trifoliata
Collected by Dr. Webber. From a round orange fruited type. Seed planted in CES greenhouse.[1]
The UCR CRC 2552 record states that seed was received from the Experiment Station in Gainesville, Florida, in 1932, and says the parents are unknown. The 1932 date is for seed receipt, not Dr. Webber’s collection of the source trifoliate type.[1]
In a 1999 study, Fang and Roose reported CTV resistance in a parent cultivar named Webber Fawcett after repeated ELISA and RT-PCR testing over two years. The paper does not identify a CRC 2552 or PI accession, so this result is not confirmed for the Webber-Fawcett #22 plant itself.[2]
