Xie Shan Satsuma is represented by UCR Citrus Variety Collection accession CRC 4081 (PI 654869; VI 621). UCR records the accession as received as budwood from Zhang Jun-Qi at the Institute of Subtropical Crops of Zhejiang Academy, PRC, and lists its parents as unknown.[1]
For the CRC 4081 accession, UCR lists a Riverside ripeness season of September to November. Its 2010 note reports earlier high-Brix development than several early Satsumas in one California trial, while higher acid kept the sugar/acid ratio in about the same range; this is accession and trial context, not a universal harvest schedule.[1]
UCR’s note describes Xie Shan as completely seedless and easy peeling, but the same page’s 59 dated fruit-quality samples have variable seed counts. Two captioned container-tree videos also describe easy peeling; their subjective flavor descriptions and individual growing conditions remain source-specific rather than cultivar-wide ratings or hardiness evidence.[1][2][3]
