The UCR accession page’s March 1, 2010 note reports that Xie Shan was originally imported from the Institute of Subtropical Crops of Zhejiang Academy in China in 1992 and says Dr. Fred Gmitter was responsible for collecting the variety. The page separately records the accession as received as budwood from Zhang Jun-Qi at that institute.
