UFR-1 is a University of Florida citrus rootstock. Its plant patent describes a tetraploid zygotic hybrid produced by crossing two parents previously created by somatic fusion: Nova mandarin hybrid + Hirado Buntan pummelo on the seed side, and Cleopatra mandarin + Argentine trifoliate orange on the pollen side.[3]
The UF/IFAS fifth-edition rootstock guide lists first commercial availability in 2015, intermediate tree size and 80–90% seedling uniformity. These are guide assessments drawn from Florida rootstock experience; tree performance depends on the grafted scion and growing conditions.[2]
