UFR-3 is a University of Florida citrus rootstock. Its plant patent describes a tetraploid zygotic hybrid from a sexual cross between two somatic-fusion parents: Nova mandarin hybrid + Hirado Buntan pummelo, and Cleopatra mandarin + Argentine trifoliate orange.[3]
The UF/IFAS fifth-edition rootstock guide lists first commercial availability in 2015 and intermediate tree size. It reports only 10–49% seedling uniformity and flags the seedlings as highly variable, a distinction relevant to propagation.[2]
