Original scorecard image for printed US-1279 Citrandarin. Exact same review sample as the 2024 Mulberries taste-test video; preserves card wording and its 33.5 g/11.5 Brix readings, which conflict with the visually checked video readings of 33.2 g/12.5 Brix and must not be averaged.

US-1279 propagation study using open-pollinated fruit collected in January 2019 from four-year-old grafted seed trees at A.H. Whitmore Foundation Farm, Leesburg, Florida. Of 343 seeds planted in seven replicates, 75% emerged. Visual assessment found no true-to-type seedlings, and all 24 selected seedlings tested with 10 SSR markers were off-type. This later test contrasts with the untested nucellar-seed expectation in the 2014–15 release literature.

Original grower post #4. Kumin describes US-1279 as small-fruited and rather late-ripening. This is an unmeasured grower report; no fruit count, size measurement, harvest date, or method is provided.

Post #488666 reports that US-1279 Citrandarin was heavily damaged in a quick inspection of selections left outdoors through the winter and might not survive. The post describes a sustained low of “2 degrees” during high winds, without stating the unit or exposure duration.

Post #572315 compares US-1279 with Bishop and US-1282 fruit, described as somewhat immature and affected by excessive shade. It reports that the US-1279 tree was quite productive of small fruit; no fruit count or dimensions are supplied. Relative flavor preference is not an intensity score.

Post #572329 reports the grower’s assessment that US-1279 seedlings were 100% zygotic and a tentative expectation that its zygotic progeny may be more vigorous. The post gives no sampling method or genetic-testing result; the vigor statement is a hypothesis, not an observed controlled outcome.

Kumin reports that US-1279 did not survive 2°F while Bishop did, and says 2°F was also at Bishop’s limit. He is uncertain of US-1279’s lower hardiness limit. This is a grower comparison; it is not a universal minimum for either selection.

Kumin describes US-1279 as the most deciduous of US-1282, US-1281 and US-1279 in a high-tunnel comparison. He says it appeared quite hardy in the tunnel but might be less hardy outdoors. No temperature, duration, or outdoor minimum is given.
