World of CitrusWorld of CitrusUS-1281 is a USDA citrandarin from a 1995 Cleopatra mandarin × Gotha Road #6 trifoliate orange cross. It was released in September 2014 as a citrus rootstock.[1][3]
Hamlin orange trees on US-1281 outyielded Swingle in a Florida flatwoods trial affected by HLB and canker. The advantage was less clear at a separate ridge site; these results show performance after infection rather than resistance to infection.[1][3]
A 2020 nursery study found no true-to-type seedlings in its US-1281 sample of nine planted seeds, including eight seedlings checked with DNA markers. The authors recommended cuttings or micropropagation for maintaining this rootstock; the result comes from one seed collection.[4]
