Discovered
The 2004 historical review identifies Walters as a white-fruited Florida seedling of Duncan and reports its discovery in 1887. Rouse et al. also locate the seedling near Belleview in Marion County in 1887, on Mr. Walters’ property. Neither account identifies Mr. Walters as the breeder.
