Walters Grapefruit
J.V. da Graça, E.S. Louzada, and J.W. Sauls · Proceedings of the International Society of Citriculture · 2004
The paper identifies Walters as a white-fruited Florida seedling of Duncan discovered in 1887, and says Foster was found as a Walters bud sport in 1907 (p. 369). Historical synthesis, not new genetic evidence.

Robert E. Rouse, Heinz K. Wutscher, and Charles O. Youtsey · Subtropical Plant Science · 2001
The authors describe Walters as a midseason, seedy white grapefruit seedling originating near Belleview, Marion County, Florida, in 1887 on Mr. Walters’ property (printed p. 2). They report that the 1907 pink-fleshed limb sport was named Foster by Royal Palms Nursery after finder R. B. Foster. This is a secondary historical account citing Hodgson (1967); property ownership does not establish a breeder credit. The 1907 fruit description is source-specific and differs from the 2004 account of membrane pigmentation.

The ScienceDirect Topics page displays an excerpt from “Commercial scion varieties,” section 5.2, in The Genus Citrus (2020). The chapter describes Walters as a Duncan seedling with little commercial importance and reports the Walters-to-Foster (1907) and Foster-to-Hudson (1930) history. Its “>50 seeds per fruit” statement is explicitly about Foster, not Walters. This is a secondary chapter excerpt, not primary genetic evidence.
