Notes
Zairai Satsuma refers not to a single cultivar, but to the ancestral, local landrace population of Satsuma mandarins that existed in Japan before modern named selections (such as Miyagawa, Okitsu, Owari, etc.) were fixed and propagated clonally.
In Japanese horticultural usage, zairai (在来) literally means “indigenous / locally derived”.
